The week before break, our school was transformed into the North Pole, and the excitement built day by day!

 

All week long, students buzzed with excitement as they talked about spotting pictures of an elf throughout the halls. The anticipation reached a peak on Friday morning when bus drivers announced to students as they arrived that they should keep an eye out for the elf. Sure enough, Mrs. Shannon was perched on the Hickory Woods sign, welcoming students to school and kicking off the magic for the day.

 

Later, during lunch, the surprise continued. Mrs. Shannon, dressed as the Elf on the Shelf, greeted students as they came in from recess, passed out gingerbread man stickers, and posed for pictures in front of her very own gingerbread house. The joy was contagious! One kindergarten student even shared that she believed the gingerbread house was Elf Mrs. Shannon’s portal to the North Pole.

Our 5th graders were especially delighted and couldn’t leave the lunchroom without stopping for group class photos with Mrs. Shannon and their teachers. Smiles, laughter, and holiday cheer filled the room.

As we continue to create a more inclusive HWE PTA community we invite you to our next PTA meeting Tuesday at 7:00pm in the Media Center. Our goal is for families to feel welcomed, heard & included in our meetings, decisions and events.

Snack Shack: Calling all THIRD GRADE classes- One more week!

It's your turn to send in some snacks for our wonderful teachers & HWE staff~ Below are some special teacher requests!

In addition to it being third graders' turn, any family can drop off snacks at any time. If you have extra unopened snacks at home, bring them in! The staff would love it! Please drop off your items in the PTA donation basket inside the front doors. If you’d like the PTA to shop for you, please send in a gift card with your student and have it dropped off in the office. Thank you for supporting our wonderful staff and giving them a pick me up during their day!

If you have not become a PTA (Parent Teacher Association) member, now is a great time to do so. Becoming a member doesn't require you to attend meetings or volunteer.
