We hope everyone enjoyed Breakfast with a Buddy and the book fair on Friday Morning. If you're interested in meeting the principal from Sarah Banks or Walnut Creek Middle School, you can attend the Geisler PTSA meeting on 4/7 at 7pm. They will be there to meet families and answer any questions you may have.

 

Teacher Appreciation Week:

Teacher appreciation week is May 5th-9th. It's a very special week at HWE. Historically our families have always come together and gone above and beyond to show the staff how appreciated they are. With the help of all of you the PTA is able to provide lunch for the staff on four out of the five days that week. On the fifth day we give every staff member a $10 gift card. They definitely feel the love from our students and families that week. It’s such a well known tradition throughout our district that staff from other buildings talk about how great it is and wish their school did it for them!

 

HOW TO HELP:

• Donate a $10 gift card. (Examples - Target, Amazon, Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, Texas Roadhouse, etc.)

  • Don’t have time to shop? Donate money and the PTA will buy the gift card for you.

• Donate money for lunch.

• Cash or check can be turned into the office in an envelope labeled TEACHER APPRECIATION.

• Checks made payable to Hickory Woods PTA.

• Venmo donations accepted - Venmo PTA President: @Erica-Brennan-5 (Note: HWE Staff Appreciation)

• Every day teachers and staff show up for our kids, not just to teach, but to encourage, comfort, and believe in them, even on the hardest days. Giving to Teacher Appreciation Week is our chance to show up for them, to say, We see you. We’re grateful. You matter. Thank you for helping to make this week a memorable one for HWE staff!

 

Scholastic Book Fair:

The Scholastic Book Fair is open this week during school hours for students to shop with their classrooms Monday April 7th - Friday April 11th. If your student misses their media day, they can bring money to shop on Friday morning. You have the option of putting money in a Scholastic online wallet for your student if you would rather not send them with cash. We need volunteers to help run the book fair during school hours. Click here to sign up. We are in desperate need of volunteers for the kindergarten group tomorrow morning! Even if you don’t have a kindergarten student, please consider volunteering if you have the time. We also encourage grandparents, aunts & uncles, old siblings home from college, etc., to volunteer. Students love seeing family when they shop!

 

Snack Shack:

Thank you to everyone who's participated in Snack Shack. We've rotated through all the classrooms. This week we're asking for donations from all SXI, ASD and 5th grade classrooms. If you would like to donate drinks or snacks you can leave them inside the front door at school. If you’d like to contribute a gift card to a grocery store, label it with Snack Shack and turn it into the office.

PTA Elective Board nominations were held on April 1st. The following nominations were made:

Voting will take place at the May 6th meeting. All members who paid dues for the current school year are eligible to vote.
